Lights! Camera! Selfie-stick!
Have you ever wondered if there is more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good-looking? Like attempting to achieve something that no one else has, like, say, breaking the record for a photo captured by the world’s longest selfie stick perhaps? Well, Derek Zoolander achieved just that at the London Fan Screening of Zoolander 2 on Thursday 4th February, an accomplishment which shall go down in a blaze of glory in the history books, or at least the Guinness Book of World Records. For serious.
Creator of the legendary Zoolander, Ben Stiller, was even presented with a certificate from a Guinness Book of World Records representative for the feat.
Stiller strutted his stuff along the red carpet for the special event, along with the rest of the talented cast which includes Owen Wilson, Will Farrell, Kristen Wiig, and Penelope Cruz. Also joining in the fashionable affair was designer Valentino, who was snapped posing with a starstruck Zoolander.
Fifteen years after Zoolander first smouldered onto our screens with his trademark ‘Blue Steel’ look, Derek and Hansel return to save the day when the world’s most beautiful celebrities start getting picked off one by one, among them, prepare yourself, Justin Bieber! And just when the world was starting to appreciate his musical prowess; so cruel. Speaking about the original film, Stiller told the Press Association “I felt bad for Derek after the first movie came out, because I think he thought he was going to have a bigger career after the movie, and nobody really went to the movie. And his modelling career kind of went down. Last few years there’s been a resurgence and now he’s like back on top really, back in the limelight. I think when he realised the first movie wasn’t a documentary and it was actually supposed to be fun – because he tried to sue Paramount – he got very confused. Anyway, it’s nice to have him back”. It certainly is nice to have the chameleon of fashion back on screens, as I think we can all agree it has been a long time, no Z. Fans can rejoice as the wait is finally over, with Zoolander 2 previewing in theatres Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th before officially opening on Friday 12th.
